This series of bikes were first introduced in the year 1997. ER-5 first came in to markets with low engine capacity of 498 cc giving out a power of 48 HP. Two parallel cylinders in the engine is the only advantage of this bike. The maximum speed of the bike was only 185 kmph with a moderate pickup. They had only conventional brake system with expandable brakes. The fuel capacity was 17 liters. But later to meet this special modern need of the user Kawasaki introduced six series bikes. They were designed based on modern automobile technology. The engine capacity was increased to 650 cc with a horse power of 72 hp at 7500 rpm.
